not quite the Jet Setter.....

Everytime I go away, I pack last minute and am up late doing it...tonight is no exception.
I just started doing laundry and I have a 6:50 am flight!

Off to Rocky Mountain high Colorado to ring in the New Year :)

Friends with Benefits Wardrobe

geesh, I am a sucker for "romantic comedies" and practically anything with Justin Timberlake :)
Tonight we watched Friends with Benefits, a film that poked fun at romantic comedies, while being just that. It was cute, but not something I'd watch twice.
Although JT and Mila were in the buff a lot, I did adore Mila Kunis' wardrobe....modern, simple, and stylish.

Love this skirt! James Perse of course!

this outfit is adorable

I love the color of this simple sheath dress

As seen online....

I always see "projects" that I would love to do while looking online and always say to myself, "I can do that!"

This holiday season, I did complete (very successfully I may add) two projects that I would like to share.

The first project was extremely simple. I had seen online, people taking glass vases and filling them with glass Christmas ornaments and using it as a centerpiece or just for decoration. I picked up a pack of green shiny glass balls and a pack of matte maroon balls at Michael's. I used a large glass vase I had already and just arranged them randomly inside. The end result was rather nice.

I placed the vase on a side table in our sun room to add a little Christmas cheer and decor.

Next up was a gift idea. Everyone is familiar with the painted wine glasses from Lolita. Everyone has seen those small wine charms to denote, whose glass belongs to whoever (which always seem to get lost by the way). This idea is along the same lines but a tad more creative....chalkboard wine glasses.

I saw this online and blogged about it here . Finally I got all the materials and made them...end result was fantastic!
I gave them to gifts to my lovely aunts, Jen and Donna. For my non-wine drinking aunt Jen, I made her rocks glasses :)

Here are my glasses :)

There are so many great projects online...I'll be sure to post any new ones I complete!

Christmas Cards

Above is the Christmas Card I sent this year...mostly to my family that I will not see over the holidays.

Jason and I get floods of holiday cards, mostly pictures of of friends children. I feel kind of bad for not sending out cards, but I just don't have the time! When (or I should say if) we have children, I promise then I will send them out!

What is the best card you have gotten??

Here is a few good ones I saw online....

Painting: the kind without OPI or Esse)

David would be so proud! LOL
J and I have been so busy lately with home improvements. Living in a new construction home, your walls are a not so lovely builder grade cream- all of them. After a little over a year in the home, our builder came back and fixed dry wall cracks and nail pops caused by settlement and at last we were given the green light for paint!

We started with a power room, a mix between a yellow and a tan. The sunroom was next, an Eddie Bauer color called "pine needle"-a greenish gray color. Up next was the kitchen, we used "wicker walls" which is basically a beige color. J then did a beautiful tile backsplash. The tile we chose is a mosaic tile, a mix of travertine stone and glass, all in a skinny rectangle shape in varying sizes. I love that some of the glass pieces are a tint of green and match the sunroom beautifully. Last up for the kitchen J added some much needed lights under the cabinets. The lights not only light up the counter space, but highlight the tile nicely.

Now we are currently in the process of the painting the basement. The amount of prep work (taping, edging and moving furniture) is way more than I thought. The color is by Olympus and is a lovely deep gray aptly named "stone gray" and has just a hint of brown (reminds me of wet pottery clay). We made the decision to do a dark color in the basement to warm it up and make the large space feel not so bare. It goes nice with all the Ravens pictures and the black bar :)

I promise to post pics as soon as everything is complete!

Stealing Santa

I went to a Christmas Party last night, hosted by long time friend Jen's mother, Mrs. Jackie (and yes I will always call her that). Mrs. Jackie has a beautiful home and is an amazing cook. The display of food, the holiday decor, and of course the rocking tunes all were great! My favorite dish of the night was actually a side- broccoli casserole- but this was no ordinary (or healthy) dish. It was the hit of the night and I left with a copy of the recipe (I'll post shortly). The decor ideas to incorporate the holiday spirit were done tastefully and simple, for example ornaments hanging from the chandelier and from door knobs.

The main event of the night however was the secret Santa steal game...bring a gift valued at $25 dollars, wrap it, and place it in the pile. We all drew numbers and then a non participant drew another number to see who started first.

There is a lot of strategy that goes into this game. First, bring a gift that doesn't totally suck. Second, to leave with a gift that doesn't totally suck. Some people worked together and others went for the steal. My strategy, to leave with the gift I brought.

This was a ladies only party, so the gifts definitely reflected that... some hot items of the night were the crock pot, nail salon gift card, and wine set complete with electronic bottle opener.

In the end, I was victorious and left with the gift I brought :)

Large hot beverage tumbler, cold beverage cup, and a Starbucks gift card!
