Fall Style and Wine

Last Saturday I met up with some old friends I had met through the Ravens Playmakers and we headed out to Liganore Winecellars Fall Reggae Wine and Music Festival. Liganore is set among the rolling hills out in Mt. Airy Maryland and is a stunning venue.

It was a great fall day and the atmosphere was beautiful especially with the colorful changing leaves. The day was full of great music, wine, lots of laughs, fresh country air, and of course great food and snacks!

BRF 2013

This year has been my busiest year for running yet! On track to meet my goal of completing my first full marathon next month!

Yesterday, I completed the half in the Baltimore Running Festival. The BRF (as it's known to locals) is a huge event with 30,000 participants. I have ran in 3 other BRF's and it's always the most challenging course packed with hills. I met my goal yesterday and PR  which was under 2 hours at 1:59!! I feel great today and am looking forward to the full!

I purchased the Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS watch and was excited to use it for the first time! I was shocked to find how dead accurate it was! Previously I had been using apps on my phone such as Map My Run, which I found to be off by a half mile at times.

Pre-race

Post Race! And yes, Jon (a former Ravens cheerleader and current trainer) wore that Reno 911 costume, complete with glasses, stash, and baton the entire 13.1 miles!

Priceless.

Fall Purchases and Discounts

I am not a winter person, at all. I hate cold weather, snow, and how it gets dark before I'm even home from work. I also distain winter fashion. I prefer sundresses to sweaters any day, but I live in MD so I have to deal. This fall I picked up some cold weather staples to ease my pain.

Below are my recent splurges with descriptions of how I was able to save some loot by taking advantage of coupons!

I'm a huge fan of Frye (American made, handcrafted leather) boots! I also have the Melissa Buttons which I blogged about here. I ended up purchasing from Macy's and got to use a 25% coupon too, which def helped out on cost!

If you know anything about me, you already know I am obsessed with the classic fashion house of Burberry. This coat is fab and looks great with my rain boots :) I purchased from Saks and was able to get 10% off plus $75 off by using my Saks card during a card holder private sale. Brought the cost down significantly!

I've been wanting an oversized men's style watch for sometime. I ended up scoring this at Macy's and got 25% off by having a coupon!

I was obsessed over these jeans after seeing them in a bloggers post on Pinterest. These mint jeans are so cute, but are sold out at Gap. I ended up scoring them brand new on Ebay and for a lot less then in store. The color is called "aqua glaze" and they are the perfect mint color I have been searching for. By the way, these Gap jeans are in my opinion the best fitting colored skinnys I have found. I also have them in an awesome coral color.

Still breathing...

It's been way to long since my last post! I've been crazy busy in my new career as a first grade teacher. My kiddos are so adorbs and keep me laughing!! Still shopping, baking, and decorating...many new posts to come now I've gotten into a routine :)

Dark hair me was not easy to maintain and in the end it just wasn't me.

I'm on my way back to blonde, here's a pic of the highlights I had added. Hopefully by Christmas I'll be back to a full blondie :)

Saying Sunday

Words to live by.
More than once I have started all over again. It's a scary uncertainty, yet exhilarating and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Saying Sunday

I'm so looking forward to teaching first grade this fall! When I began this journey, I certainly couldn't see the whole staircase, but I'm certainly glad I took the first step.

Although I am only half way up this set of steps, I'm more determined than ever to get to the top!

With that said, my posts will most likely be few and far between as I buckle down and focus :)

Vox Box (Something Blue Review)

Last October I blogged about freebee website, Influenster that sends samples to you for you to try and review (Domesticated Officer Fall Freebees).

Just this week I was sent another box of samples, which Influenster calls a "Vox Box". Each box has a theme and this particular box was the "something blue box" a wedding themed box.

Here's what was in the box:

Kiss Eye Lashes
I stopped wearing false eye lashes when I discovered Latisse (see my post- Addicted to Drugs)
False lashes look, well false, fake, and normally pretty hooker-like.

        Dr. Scholl's For Her
These are great! Very comfortable and good for that pair of shoes that are so cute, but not so comfortable. Only issue with these, they do not fit in tight shoes, like stilettos. I used these when I was on Ravens in the cheap black boots we wore. They definitely helped out a lot!

They are made more for sandal style shoes. Lastly they have a sticky side and can only be used in one pair of shoes.

Luster NOW!
So I had heard about this product a while back on Refinery 29 (here for post/video). This toothpaste is super blue and it's supposed to make your teeth white after just one use. Well although it tastes good (very minty) I saw no difference after using. I was also disappointed to see it contained no Fluoride, which is an important and usually an active ingredient in toothpaste. I would not recommend this product.

        My Trio Rings
This was not a sample, but an advertisement for wedding rings and bands that were extremely cheap and would not be something I would ever consider.

                                       Urgent Rx
This is a powder form of pain reliever. I'll stick with Advil or Aleve if I need to take something.

Q-TIP
Kinda surprised to get a sample of Q-tips....pretty sure everyone in America already buys these. I do like the small travel containers they came in- perfect for my next getaway!

It's definitely nice to get full size freebees and coupons in the mail and it's nice to be able to try before you buy.
