Hair Affair

So many styles, so little time...
just remember if your hair is a mess, add more lipstick.

The Bubbly

What says party more then champagne?
I cannot think of a wedding, NYE, or a Sunday brunch without the bubby.

I've always liked Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label- it's fairly inexpensive and has a nice crisp taste.
If you were wondering, in 50 Shades of Grey, Ana and Mr. Grey sip Bollinger Rose.

If you don't know how to pop a bottle, it's never to late to learn!

Click here and let Martha and her staff show you how it's done :)
Cheers!

Amaz beauty tip- Save the Shadow!

I was so upset Saturday when I opened my makeup bag saw all of it's contents covered in Mac's Gleam eyeshadow. Besides the mess I was more bummed I had to shell out another $15 on a new one, since this is a main eye color for me!

Before tossing, I decided to try a tip I had heard about to save the broken shadow by adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol. I was told that the alcohol was evaporate and the broken powder would dry together once again. Since it was a loss anyway, I took a few minutes and put this tip to the test!

Okay here is what the shadow is supposed to look like:

Smashed and all over the other shawdows and the compact, I carefully took out each magnetic shadow and tossed as much of the broken Gleam back into it's disk and washed out the rest of the compact holder.

Next I added a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the broken shadow and mixed it up with a bobby pin. I used the bobby pin to crush some of the larger pieces and mix all the shadow together.

Lastly I just let the shadow sit overnight and when I checked it the next day-
I had a solid shadow once again!!

The magnetic quad compact is really nice to have, but the regular MAC shadow cases seem to be much for resistant to breaking.

Saying Sunday

Simplicity is at the root of my home decor. I cannot stand clutter, messes, and crap all over the place.
When it comes to fashion and beauty, simple is always better.

God Bless America w/Lochte

If you are not into sports or cheering on your fellow American's, here is one good reason to watch the Olympic games this summer- American hottie Ryan Lochte.

He may not be the brightest guy (see Tosh.0 Video here) and maybe he is a douche bag (see article here) but none the less, he is definately worth looking at....

50 Shades

I don't know how I got sucked into this 3 book series- okay actually I do, my girl Bri and my cousin Mallory!

Well I'm addicted and can't put down these books! I read the first 2 and am halfway through the 3rd and last book. I don't know how it's all going to end, but recommend to anyone who wants to read a kinky love story ;)

I cannot help wondering who will play the characters in the movie- and yes there will be a movie!

Here are my pics for the top few characters:

Ms. Ana Steele

Mila Kunis

Rachel Bison

Lea Michelle (Glee)

Mr. Christian Gray

Matt Bomer (recently in Magic Mike)
Ian Somerhalder (list of credits here)

Alex Pettyfer (also recently in Magic Mike)

Mrs. Robinson

Sharon Stone

Michelle Pfeiffer

Charlize Theron

Jen Aniston

Katherine Kavanaugh

Blake Lively

Emma Stone

Until the movie does come out.....

Framed

I have seen several posts online about framing in bathroom mirrors. In our master bath, the mirror  is quite large and unframed. After seeing a few of these posts, I decided to frame in our mirror. I wanted the frame to be white and a similar design cut to match our existing molding that encases the door frame. I purchased 4 pieces at Lowes that cost about $8 each.

Here are the posts I saw on the DIY frame:

Okay so both blogs have good ideas but both do some dumb things- fortunately I had my dad's help and we were able to see the easy and better way to go about this project.
Basically it is way easier to have the frame built and already painted before attaching and spraying it will  avoid those ugly brush strokes and is way cleaner.

Materials Needed:

  • Wood Molding (4 pieces so you do not have cut marks)
  • Primer- White
  • White Spray Paint (Krylon White Gloss)
  • Wood Glue
  • Wood Screws
  • Liquid Nails
  • Painter's Tape
How to:

  1. Measure, measure, and measure again. My dad did this for me- I haven't a clue.
  2. Have saw and attach boards together with wood glue.
  3. Once glue dries, tighten grip with wood screws on the top and bottom (not sides- or they will show).
  4. Primer with white brush primer.
  5. Once dry, spray (to avoid brush strokes) with high gloss white paint. Krylon is far superior to any other spray paint. Paint both sides or you will see in the refection of the mirror.
  6. Lastly affix to mirror with use of liquid nails.
  7. Use painters tape to help set bond of frame to mirror. Allow 24hrs for bond to set.

I purchased 4 pieces at Lowes that cost about $8 each and my dad already had the other materials. Overall the cost of this project was very low, but yielded a high dollar finish.

Lucky for me, I have a very handy dad :)

Bathroom wall paint is Eddie Bauer- Cloth.
